Texas Point National Wildlife Refuge

Texas Point sits at the extreme eastern edge of the Texas Coast, where marsh, coastal ridges and nearby Gulf waters create habitat used by resident wildlife and large numbers of migratory birds. Its position near Sabine Pass makes it part of the broader chenier-plain conservation landscape shared with McFaddin.

The refuge is more about habitat and wildlife-dependent recreation than developed attractions. Birding, wildlife observation, photography and seasonal hunting are shaped by marsh conditions and the rhythms of migration rather than by a fixed visitor itinerary.

The low coastal setting is vulnerable to storms, flooding and road disruptions. A successful trip checks current refuge notices and highway access first, then pairs Texas Point with other Sabine Pass or Sea Rim-area stops only when conditions make the coastal drive practical.
