Pedernales Falls State Park gives RV travelers a developed Hill Country campground about 30 miles west of Austin. TPWD currently lists 69 campsites with electricity, including water hookups and 30-amp service, with restrooms and showers nearby. That makes the park useful for travelers who want a serviced state-park base while still spending most of the day on trails and along the river.
The Pedernales River is both the attraction and the main safety consideration. Visitors can swim, wade, tube, fish and paddle in allowed areas, but TPWD prohibits swimming and wading in the falls area itself. The agency also warns that the river can rise rapidly during flash-flood conditions, so weather, water clarity and current park alerts should be part of the arrival check rather than an afterthought.
Trail options range from the short Twin Falls Nature Trail to longer and more technical Hill Country routes, and the park also supports mountain biking and horseback riding. RV campers should reserve before travel, confirm the current campsite and electrical needs, and follow the park's overnight gate and late-arrival instructions. Johnson City is the nearest practical supply and dining base for combining the campground with a broader Hill Country trip.
