Texas story
Life and career
Jeff Bagwell was born in Boston, raised in Connecticut and drafted by the Red Sox before Houston acquired him in the 1990 Larry Andersen trade. The Astros moved him to first base before his major-league debut.
Bagwell won 1991 Rookie of the Year and the 1994 National League MVP, then became the franchise's career leader in home runs and RBI. A damaged shoulder curtailed his final seasons, but he returned for Houston's 2005 World Series run and entered the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2017.
