Lake Mineral Wells State Park & Trailway is a developed RV base about 45 minutes west of Fort Worth. TPWD currently lists 47 campsites with water and 50-amp electricity in the Live Oak Camping Area plus 30 campsites with water and 30-amp electricity in the Plateau Camping Area. That gives RV travelers two clearly documented electrical service levels without assuming that every overnight site is configured the same way.
The park combines a 640-acre lake with hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing, boating and swimming. Penitentiary Hollow is one of the relatively uncommon natural rock-climbing areas in North Texas, but climbing and individual trail areas can close because of weather, fire conditions or maintenance. Current park alerts should therefore be part of trip planning rather than treated as static background information.
TPWD lists mid-March through mid-November as the busy season and says the park can reach capacity. Before towing in, reserve the specific campsite, verify the required electrical connection and current vehicle limits, and check active burn bans, trail status and climbing access.
