Adrian is promoted as the halfway point of the traditional Chicago-to-Santa Monica Route 66 journey. Its importance is symbolic as much as architectural: after miles of small Panhandle communities, the midpoint marker gives travelers a clear sense of the continental scale of the Mother Road.
